Lake George | Rail Trail

Data Viz/Infographic Design

2023

An infographic project I created aimed at enhancing the appeal of a specific area or park for visitors. My chosen canvas was the picturesque Lake George area in upstate New York. The primary objective was to craft an inviting atmosphere catering to both kids and adults, showcasing a plethora of engaging family activities.

The focal point of my project was a map of the Lake George vicinity. This map not only highlighted various hiking trails and recreational activities but also featured a dynamic callout that zoomed in to provide a detailed view of the town.

Adding a touch of humor, I included a wordless diagram addressing encounters with raccoons. The intent was to create a memorable and enjoyable experience for visitors, encouraging them to explore the area with a sense of adventure.

The following images were created for a data visualization project that delved into the surge in park and hiking trail visits following the pandemic and subsequent lockdown. My research involved meticulous data collection, tracking the pre-pandemic usage of trails for activities such as hiking and biking, and contrasting it with the notable uptick in post-lockdown visits.

The resulting poster aimed to communicate the profound significance of trails and parks for individuals across diverse demographics. By presenting the data in a visually engaging manner, the poster underscored the universal importance of outdoor spaces, advocating for their continued use and appreciation.
